Newcastle Replacement Deck and Driveway

The owners' objective for this deck was to increase its usage and appeal. They indicated the old deck was rarely used and they hoped to better utilize it for entertaining friends. They wanted to keep the size of the previous deck, but increase the view and have better access to the back yard. The original solid railing system completely blocked the view of the greenbelt.

We investigated several options, including glass railings but settled on aluminum balusters for their ease of maintenance coupled with how they blend with the background and do not detract from the view as you look through them. We also added stairs to the back yard increasing access to both the yard and outdoor fire pit. The addition of the Sunbrella, a motorized awning, allows the owners to entertain year round, keeping dry on rainy days. An added benefit is that the awning helps to hold in the heat and keeps guests not only dry, but also comfortably warm on cool evenings.

The old slab driveway was cracked and uninviting. The stamped concrete definitely has a more upscale appearance and it better fits the style of the house and neighborhood.
