A Special Thank You

The Remodeled Kitchen and Bath Tour was a great success! We were fortunate in more ways than one. The weather turned from very stormy on Friday to absolutely gorgeous Saturday and Sunday, a perfect backdrop for the beautiful kitchen remodel and Lake Washington view. We were delighted to connect with so many friendly tour goers. Thank you for coming.

Our special thanks to Eva and John Banbury for graciously opening their home to all of us. They appreciated the wonderful comments many of you made regarding their home.

Over the last 28 years we have completed many kitchen and bath remodels.

Kitchens have become a meal preparation, eating and socializing hub. Bathrooms have been turned into sanctuaries.

One room that has yet to be hit with the remodeling bug is the utility/laundry room.

Traditional laundry rooms tend to be stark and boring. They were planned with very little cabinetry and lack personal touches. As if the designer was saying, “Get in and out of here as soon as possible.”

It doesn’t have to be that way!

We are seeing a trend toward larger and more efficient laundry areas.

Cabinets are an excellent way to add more storage and appeal. Cabinets can be selected with a natural wood look that makes the room feel warm and inviting, or paint them to make the room brighter. Cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling provide an effective use of space.

If you are the type that likes to sort your clothes into individual piles, pull out bins built into your cabinetry could work for you. To achieve an innovative touch, raise the countertops above the bins for easy sorting. With the counter down, it can be used as a folding area.

A couple of space saving ideas are fold up ironing boards (even old ideas are still good ideas) and stackable appliances. These appliances have improved immensely in the last couple of years.

Lighting in the laundry room is often an afterthought. When you think about the tasks performed in the laundry room, this isn’t a sensible choice. You need good lighting to sort clothes and discover hidden stains.

Effective lighting is needed to iron those seams just right. And there is less strain on your eyes as you fold your clean clothes. Can lights, track lighting and even under the cabinet lighting are good options.

Make your laundry room fun to be in. Wire your stereo system to pipe in your favorite music or run your TV cable down and install a small TV.

Use your imagination and make the laundry room a space in which you want to spend time instead of a dreary area that you hurry in to shuffle clothes from one machine to another and carry out your clean clothes to fold and iron elsewhere. Stop the neglect of this important room and give Sound Builders a call!

Testimonial from a recent bathroom remodel:

“Everyone we dealt with at Sound Builders was a pleasure to work with. My first instincts and impressions when I initially met Jay were that the company was very professional and organized. This opinion didn’t change after work began. I have, and will continue to recommend Sound Builders to anyone beginning home remodel projects.”

-Bob and Vicki Wahl

Puget power began installing power lines in 1964, over the next 16 years how many miles of line had they installed?

a) 3,200
b) 4,800
c) 10,000
d) 6,300

HINT: It’s the same distance as Seattle to Tokyo. The answer is b.) 4,800 miles. At a cost
of $12 million, only 150 miles of line are replaced each year.

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!

“All endings are also beginnings. We just don’t know it at the time.”
